Endeavour Sailing 22/2/25 Saturday: Relaxing holiday on the Endeavour

I was awake at 5 a.m. for a short watch while in harbour and I was feeling a lot better and refreshed after a long tiring great day yesterday. My arms and lower back feel ok which is good news. My arms were just feeling a bit tired, which compared how they were like sore jelly last night is a good thing.

I spent the morning watching the sun rise across the bay from the deck of the Endeavor, luckily it was not raining at this point with plenty to write about from yesterday.

For our morning 'Happy Hour' we all did a super in depth clean. I'm glad we had the 18th century deck, which we literally pulled apart. All the historic chests against the walls are secured by ropes which we quickly undid, then swept, mopped and then secured back into place. We were all finished in 40 minutes.

All the shoes, and towels from the 20th century had been put on deck by another watch to dry. In addition, ropes had been tied along the side of the ship so all our wet clothes could dry. I had a few things from yesterday so I hung up my shoes, clothes, wet weathers and towel.

This was a day unlike any other on the Endeavour, with nothing to do on a beautiful cloudless day, which was supposed to rain and it didn’t which was awesome.

This is a holiday of differences, and today is no different being so calm and relaxing.

I read a lot while in sun, taking a break to have random discussions with people.

All in all, a very relaxing day with watch duty between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. spent doing more reading and talking with those who were up than doing any serious work.
